Welcome to our school

….We’re the
“Little School with the Big Heart!” San Antonio school is a Decile 10
integrated Catholic
Primary school for boys
and girls from Year 1 to Year 8, which was opened in 1936. It is owned by the
Roman Catholic Archbishop of Wellington and is attached
to the Parish of San Antonio in the seaside community of Eastbourne
which has a population of 6000 people. Features of the school are its Christian
environment, sustainable garden and nursery, a low teacher/ pupil ratio, modern
facilities and a family atmosphere. The small size of the school fosters the
development of a warm and close school community where families interact often
and meaningfully.
The school’s special character is
its status as a Roman Catholic school for boys and girls in whom the whole
community exercises the right to live and teach the values of Jesus Christ.
These values are as expressed in the practices, worship and the doctrine of the
Roman Catholic Church.
In all areas of operation, San Antonio School respects the cultural diversity
of our community and abides by the Principals of the Treaty of Waitangi. The
school provides for regular learning opportunities in all curriculum areas,
particularly Numeracy, Literacy and ICT, as well as exposure to Tikanga and Te
Reo Maori.
. "There is an appreciative and caring atmosphere in
the school, amongst staff and students, and between parents and staff. The
children's acceptance of others exemplifies the Catholic character. Students are
well settled and provided for, and safe." ERO, March 2010.
